Varous Pirates head for the festival scene over the next three weeks - next up will be the Gin Trap on 26th August. See you all there!
Really enjoyable gig at a pirate themed SHARPS dig on Friday - chance to play a very extended set and we still didn't manage to do everything!
The excellent Gary Nava, luthier supreme, has started on my Bouzouki - check out his website and blog at http://navaguitars.co.uk/
Will end up with a more or less matching set of oustanding instruments to pass on to the children!
1st of August for our annual gig at Sedgeford - open to the public if you want to come along, good bar available and a great atmosphere. It is at the SHARPS archaeological site, follow the signs.
Went to have a drink and watch Katy playing with The Hobblers on The Albatross last night - great venue and good gig.
Sunset over the marsh was spectacular, so a great evening all round!
Great night last night at the Gin Trap in Ringstead. Packed house (Gareth tells me a total of 54 people playing/supporting and listening), 27 performers, 8 different instruments (I think) and a range of songs, people trying different things (singing for the first time in public for example) plus some dancing!
Check out Gareth's blog: http://garethcalway.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/gin-trap-folk-march-25-2014.html
Next Gin Trap is 22nd April.
Great to see Alan back after his op, along with Roy in his usual good form.
Had a great night at the FF&B festival - had to be dragged off because of the licensing restrictions! Big thanks to the Kickstart Fakenham people (Mark Baldwin in the photo doing the introduction for the band) for organising this, having us back for a second year and growing the event. Only sorry we couldn't make Saturday night.
Hope to see you all again next year.
Don't forget to book your Christmas tunes for the Gin Trap on 17th! Go to the website and follow the links from the Home page.
Picked up my new Octave and Tenor mandos from the most excellent Gary Nava today - could not be more pleased with the look and the sound, can't recommend Gary highly enough - just need to add the bouzouki now........ look http://guitar-maker.blogspot.co.uk/ for some pictures.
You can hear us live on the evening of Sunday 13th October on Folkspot radio - this link should get you there: http://folkspot.listen2myradio.com/ We should be on from around 8.
Even better you can come to the gig for free at Great Massingham Village Hall, Norfolk, starts at 7 and goes through till late. Floor singers welcome. Jane, Dave and Brian do a great job with Folkspot and deserve your support.
Hope you can listen in or that you can be there.
